This LPA guide primarily focuses on day-to-day care and areas of health-related functional support such as nutrition, sensory support, pain management and sleep. It offers insights into caring for individuals with specific conditions, such as Parkinson’s Disease, Dementia and Diabetes.
It instructs coordinators, care workers, consumers, and families on identifying condition changes and reporting procedures. Staff involved in providing any clinical care should have access to comprehensive policies and procedures about care planning, record management and how to identify clinical risks. This handbook will assist all stakeholders in recognising opportunities for improvement in clinical care and includes a sample care plan.
What is the difference between this book and the blue book?
The books are complementary and intended for different purposes. The table of contents shows each book includes different content.
The red book is more about everyday care and information about caring for person with specific conditions such as Parkinson’s Disease. In the blue book there are 19 clinical tasks included and new helpful information at the end including scope of practice, ISBAR for reporting, documentation etc. Whereas the blue book is about clinical tasks that a care worker may assist a consumer with such as taking their blood pressure or collecting a urine sample. The blue book goes through these tasks including the steps involved and when to contact their care coordinator.
