It is important to note that during the current period of reform, there have been a minimal number of applications that have been approved. We recommend that those wishing to become an accredited home care provider consider using this time before changes are implemented to do your “groundwork” in ensuring that you know what your requirements will be and having key decisions in place.
LPA Consultants can work with you to look at your current structure and conduct an LPA Pulse Check which will assist in identifying any gaps and make recommendations as to what needs to be addressed so you are ready to apply with a cohesive application.
Verification Specialisation
The Department of Health and Aged Care developed the Specialisation Verification Framework to ensure that older Australians with diverse backgrounds, life experiences and characteristics have access to more reliable information when choosing their care providers. While all providers must be respectful and responsive to the background and specialised needs of those they support, some aged care providers go beyond the basic requirements to specialise in caring for one or more groups that have special aged care needs.
Applications are open for aged care providers who deliver specific services that meet diverse needs. Following a transition period, provider specialisation claims that have not been approved will be removed from their My Aged Care profile.
To apply, providers must complete and submit an application to an independent assessor demonstrating they meet the evidence requirements of the Specialisation Verification Framework. This can be a lengthy and complex process, but we can support you every step of the way to submit a credible application.
