About this event
🌟 Are you new to CHSP?
🌟 Were you successful in the latest CHSP funding round and not sure what’s next?
🌟 Are you aware of the key responsibilities of CHSP service providers, and how to ensure quality care?
🌟 Want to know what the future of CHSP looks like?
The CHSP plays a critical role in providing older Australians with the support they need to live independently in their homes. From 1 July 2025, the Support at Home program will replace the existing Home Care Packages (HCP) Program and Short-Term Restorative Care (STRC) Program. The Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) will transition to the new program no earlier than 1 July 2027.
It is a pivotal moment for new providers entering the (CHSP) sector, as the landscape of aged care experiences significant transformation. The demand for CHSP services is rapidly increasing, with more older Australians seeking support to live independently at home. For new CHSP providers, this is a crucial time to engage with the sector, learn from the experiences of others, and develop strategies to overcome challenges that lie ahead. The ability to adapt, innovate, and collaborate will be key to success in the sector.
🔥 Overview
Attendees will be introduced to the fundamental aspects of CHSP, including:
- An in-depth look at the goals of CHSP and its place within the broader aged care system.
- Who qualifies for CHSP, how the assessment process works (including the recent introduction of the IAT).
- Service Categories of CHSP, such as domestic assistance, personal care, nursing, social support, and respite care.
- Insights into the responsibilities of service providers, how they coordinate care, and the importance of adhering to CHSP guidelines and quality standards.
- A breakdown of how CHSP is funded and how funding is allocated to ensure equitable access to services across the country (both in its current and new form of Support at Home).
- How CHSP interacts with other aged care programs, such as the Home Care Packages (HCP), and how to navigate transitions between different levels of care.
- Overview of the new support at Home Program, what that means for CHSP providers.

When it comes to online training, we know that staring into the “virtual classroom” can sometimes miss those moments that face-to-face events deliver. So, we are mixing things up. In a time of transformation in the sector, we want to make sure now, more than ever, that you are being supported. We will be focusing even more on interactive, immersive training sessions (think break-out rooms, cameras on (yes scary), opportunities to network, and of course maintaining the LPA way of tangible tools and resources).
